5 bogus
Это слово породило недолговечные производные: bogosity, bogon, bogometer и даже глагол to bogus out. -
6 shift one's ground
переменить позицию в споре, изменить точку зрения в ходе дискуссии‘The trouble is,’ said Aunt Ada, shifting her ground with dexterity, ‘That nobody tells me anything.’ (A. Christie, ‘By the Pricking of My Thumbs’, ch. 1) — - Беда в том, - сказала тетушка Ада, перестраиваясь на ходу с завидной ловкостью, - что мне никогда ничего не говорят.
He was unlikely to support a bogus claim. Robin shifted his ground. (A. Wilson, ‘Anglo-Saxon Attitudes’, part I, ch.
